With 96 bonvinitas points, I, Dieter Simon, have rated this great Chardonnay from the wine estate Leo Aumann in Tribuswinkel, Austria. Here is the rating system, which I use for my evaluations in addition to our bonvinitas blind evaluations by neutral auditors. Which, of course, is my own opinion in these cases.

At the finish, there is almost melancholy

2023 Chardonnay Badener Berg dry, quality wine from Austria, 13%, to which I noted: Already on the nose very beautiful fruit with hints of nectarines, pineapple, raisins; on the tongue rises a wonderful harmony, from which a lot of fruit wells up with a dab of salt; very harmonious wonderfully balanced finish, which - as mentioned - you would like to keep. Fits well with veal schnitzel as well as roast veal or pork - 96 bonvinitas points.

The Thermenregion south of Vienna is one of the oldest wine-growing regions in Austria. In the loamy-sandy soils, there are still remains of mussels, snails and other sea creatures, which show that a sea once surged here. More than 2000 years ago, the Romans brought vines to the region and laid the foundation for the long tradition. Later, Cistercian monks perfected the  viticulture. Leo Aumann: "Our family has been running the wine estate for more than two decades. Although we are not one of the oldest in the Thermenregion, we have managed to make the name Leo Aumann known nationally and internationally."

The Badner Berg site is considered one of the oldest in the Thermenregion, north of Baden near Vienna. As early as the 11th century, it was mentioned in documents as Monte Badensi. At 350 m above sea level, it offers a wonderful view as far as Vienna.
