Our external auditors have assessed this beautiful Auslese, which is almost a Beerenauslese, with 95 bonvinitas points at the latest bonvinitas Wine Award. Violet means category 4, noble sweet, see the rating system. My notes when tasting it afterwards are:

Tropical fragrance – lush, fruity sweetness

2023 Merler Stephansberg Riesling Auslese Prädikatswein Mosel, 8%, Weingut Albert Kallfelz (0,5 l Flasche): Tropical scent of mango, pineapple, dried figs, dates, apricots; on the palate you experience a lush, fruity sweetness, from which subtle memories of rum pot rise, all accompanied by candied fruit; elegant finish that culminates in rock candy. Fine dessert wine as well as for toasting on festive occasions, such as milestone birthdays, if they are not huge parties. 95 bonvinitas points.

Wine Estate Albert Kallfelz

The estate in Zell-Merl in Germany on the Moselle covers around 60 hectares of vineyards. The largest part is located on the steep slopes Merler Adler, Merler Stephansberg, Merler Fettgarten and Merler Königslay Terrassen, which is almost exclusively owned. Of course, Riesling is in the foreground. The Moselle slate soils and the not too warm climate are giving the Rieslings their elegance and graceful finesse, which the winery understands in a special way.

We have already received many Kallfelz wines that our testers have always rated very well. In our bonvinitas wine guide you will find a whole range of the best wines from dry, to wines with residual sweetness, to wonderful noble sweet Ausleses.

Since 2021, the winery has been run by Maximilian Kallfelz and his brother-in-law Florian Scheidt. Scheidt: "We attach great importance to this Moselle typicality, elegant, playful wines, not too heavy, which is only possible on these steep slate slopes." They proudly count themselves as members of DER RING Mosel 1899.
